About the Event
Grouchy Like Riley is the project of a trio of some of Austin's best musicians. They describe their music as 'Austin Texas Americana Music' and that's what it is. Guitarist, vocalist (also bass guitar and percussion) Marvin Dykhuis is a mainstay with the Texan nightingale Tish Hinojosa. Keyboard wizard (piano, Hammond organ, vocals) Chip Dolan performs with, among others, Sam Baker and Jimmy Lafave. Danny Britt an Austin celebrity and was Jerry Jeff Walker's road manager for a number of years.
Roxi Copland is a multi-award-winning singer, songwriter, and pianist whose innovative sound is forged at the crossroads of Americana, roots, and jazz. The Austin-based artist's latest release 'I Come From Crazy' was called "Refreshingly honest" by Americana UK, and lauded by Americana Highways: "Has a real sassy swagger running through it...very well worth the listen". The record has garnered over a half-dozen songwriting accolades, and three of its songs recently took the top three slots at Texas Independent Radio (Roots Music Report's 'Top 50 Texas songs', July 2023). Copland has performed at over a thousand events across the US, Canada, and Europe, and opened for a number of prominent national and international acts, including Esperanza Spalding, Vanessa Carlton, the Mingus Dynasty Band, the Manhattan Transfer, Brennen Leigh, Marcia Ball, and Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel).
